Material Advancements & Single Use Components Offer New Opportunities
Southampton, PA — High-purity tubing and manifold manufacturer AdvantaPure will exhibit at BioProcess International’s Conference and Exhibition taking place October 12-16, 2009. The event will be held in Raleigh, NC, and promises to spark discussions about, and interest in, the benefits of single use tubing and molded components in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process.
“We anticipate the booth talk to focus on bioprocessing systems currently in place and the compelling reasons for switching to single use,” says David Schwass, AdvantaPure’s Director of Sales and International Distribution. “There’s a growing understanding of single use benefits like reducing contamination risks and minimizing turnaround time and cleaning costs. The show will give us face-to-face opportunities to talk about single use process systems and how we work with biopharm manufacturers.”
Schwass notes that another area of interest within the industry is the reliable identification of components. AdvantaPure addresses this situation with identification solutions that include the AdvantaLabel® molded silicone labeling system, P•E•T Process Equipment Tracking®, and GammaTag®, the first RFID tag that’s safely sterilizable by gamma radiation. A new identification product, DocuLink™ (patent pending), will soon be launched. DocuLink provides users a way to reference batch, lot, and validation documentation after the installation of a molded silicone manifold.
AdvantaPure offers a number of items that focus on current processing concerns. The company manufactures single use silicone tubing sets, molded manifolds, and molded container closures. It also supplies manifolds and tubing sets complete with other single use products (filters and sample bags, for example) to eliminate labor and inventory for the end user.
The company’s innovative thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) tubing, AdvantaFlex™, was developed specifically for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. AdvantaFlex is sealable, weldable, and offers excellent life in peristaltic pumps. It provides single resin validation and eliminates the need to attach or graft other tubing materials for media filling and sampling applications involving peristaltic pumps. AdvantaFlex may be disposed of when the manufacturing process is completed.
